Scuba Scene is a PADI 5 Star IDC Scuba Diving Centre and Retail Store located in the heart of Somerset.

Whether it is Scuba Diving, Snorkelling, Surfing, Sailing, Canoeing or Kayaking, we have an extensive range of products and services in store. We are your local, friendly store to help get you in the water.

Scuba Diving in Somerset

As a PADI 5 Star IDC Centre we teach the full spectrum of PADI recreational and professional courses. From your first scuba diving experience, to becoming an Instructor, we offer it all. As well as teaching scuba diving we also have an extensive stock of scuba diving equipment in store to get you kitted out to join us diving.

We pride ourselves at Scuba Scene for not only talking about scuba diving, but going scuba diving!! We are out most weekends, scuba diving in Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, as well as regular trips abroad to locations like the Egypt and Malta. Our aim is to ‘get people diving, and keep divers diving’. To make this even easier we have the Scuba Scene Club, which helps make diving more affordable and accessible to all.
 
At Scuba Scene in Somerset we also have an in house service centre where we service all makes and models of scuba diving regulators and equipment. We can also fill most air cylinders on site, including cylinders for air guns.

 

Water sports in Somerset

Aqua Scene is our water sports section in Scuba Scene. We have a variety of water sports products from snorkelling equipment and wet suits, to buoyancy aids and Kayaks. If you’re wanting to make the most of Somerset’s location to the sea and inland waterways, we should be your point of reference.

First Aid in Somerset

We also offer a full range of first aid training services, from 1 day emergency HSE to 3 day first aider HSE courses, Primary Care for Schools to 12 hour Care for Children programs and from basic first aid to instructor level training. This can be done in house or we can deliver at a location suitable to you.

The first step on the professional ladder - you will learn leadership skills through knowledge development and practical application.You'll complete water skills, stamina exercises and training exercises that will help develop your skills to assist student and qualified divers in everyday situations.

Need a first aid qualification?

Then this is the course for you - you'll learn all about CPR during Primary Care course, and basic first aid procedures with Secondary care. This is a must for any Rescue candidates and anyone else who would like to know what to do in the event of an emergency.

Instructor Speciality Training - £50.00

Once you become an instructor, you'll want to be able to teach your students as much about the underwater world as possible. Becoming a specialty instructor allows you to teach specialist knowledge to your students. Plus it'll help you on your way to becoming a Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

Price is per specialty - PADI charge an application fee per specialty which is in addition to the above price.

The world famous PADI course. Get your licence to dive the world!!!

The course involves Five pool & theory sessions, and four openwater dives.

Minimum age: 10

Duration: 5 evening sessions & 2 days of openwater diving.


Includes learning materials, equipment hire, pool sessions, tuition, certification card.
- Entrance to inland dive site for open water dives.

What is it?
Who can take part?

What does the course involve?
The course consists of independent student study and academic sessions which include videos, instructor presentations and quizzes. You will be required to complete independent study prior to each academic session. These sessions will give you the fundamentals and essential knowledge needed for safe and enjoyable diving.

Five confined water dives – During these sessions you will apply dive principles, learn and practice dive procedures and skills. These sessions will be conducted at a heated pool on site at various locations or St James’s pool, Taunton.
Four open water dives –

Depending on your choice, you can complete a drysuit orientation in the pool prior to the open water dives – (optional drysuit bolt on). The Open Water Dives are conducted over a weekend, at either an inland dive site or down on the coast (coastal option is weather dependant)

Why PADI Rescue Diver?

 

Rewarding and fun – that best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

 

 

What do I need to start?

 

·         You can enroll in the Rescue Diver Course as a certified Open Water Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another training organization) and participate in the Rescue Diver knowledge development and rescue training sessions, in confined water only, while working on your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

 

·         To participate in the rescue training sessions in open water, and to participate in the open water rescue scenarios, you must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

 

·         Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)

 

·         Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months. The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements.
